Canadian Pentathlon Indoor Champion

While the West Coast is still waiting for the spring thaw, North Vancouver’s Callum Williams has been heating up the track 3,300 kilometers away. The meet was electric. There were over 1,000 athletes from all over Canada from U16 to Open. Damian Warner, 2020 Tokyo Olympics Decathlon Gold medalist and the World Decathlon champion, Pierce Lepage competing next to Callum but in different age categories.

The NorWesters Track and Field Club athlete and Argyle Secondary student put on a masterclass in versatility this weekend at the 2026 Canadian Indoor Track and Field Championships in Toronto. Competing at the Toronto Track and Field Centre from Feb. 27 to March 1, Williams didn’t just win—he dominated, securing a hat-trick of gold medals, three new championship records, and three personal bests (PBs).

Williams’ weekend was defined by a grueling schedule that tested his speed, spring, and endurance. He officially returns to the North Shore as a three-time national champion in:

60m Hurdles: Clocking a blazing personal best of 8.49 seconds.

    Pentathlon: Showcasing his multi-event dominance.

Triple Jump: Landing a record-breaking distance to secure the top spot. 13.03M

The feat is particularly impressive considering the regional divide in Canadian track and field. While Ontario and the East Coast boast a robust indoor season supported by world-class facilities, B.C. athletes often struggle with limited indoor meets and training space during the winter months.

Despite the lack of a "home-court advantage," Williams proved that North Shore grit travels well. This performance marks a significant step up from his national debut last summer, where he competed as a younger 14 year old U16 athlete at the 2025 Legion Youth Nationals in Calgary, bringing home a silver and a bronze. Less than a year later, those medals have been traded for gold.

What’s Next?

With three national titles under his belt and the outdoor season on the horizon, Williams has firmly established himself as one of the top youth prospects in the country.

"To see a North Shore athlete head east and break three records in three different disciplines is a testament to the work being done at the NorWesters," said a local club representative. "Callum is the real deal."

Williams is begining preparations for the B.C. High School track season.
