ROB LEONE - Sprints

Rob began his career in club track and field at the age of 12, and trained with the Coquitlam Cheetahs, and then with the Phoenix track club. He trained alongside national champions, and Olympic athletes, gaining valuable experience. Former national and Olympic sprint and distance coaches, Mike Murray and George Gluppe coached him. He cites them as being the reason he enjoys coaching as much as he does. He is currently working on his level 2 NCCP coaching program and plans for full certification.

As a BCJD athlete he was ranked top 2 in the 800 & 1500 for 4 or 5 years. In 1989 he placed 3rd in the 800 meters, and 4th in the 1500 meters. In 1990 he placed 2nd in both 800 & 1500 at BC summer games. He made his first appearance at the BC high schools in grade 9 for 1500 meters. In grade 11 & 12, he placed 6th in the 800 meters.
